Nice Skating for Kids

Cartoon Bear with green hat holds a pink ice skate and giggles behind his paw
Reviewed on 2/6/21

It's a good time of year to go out and try ice skating, but... maybe today is too cold.  Or maybe you can't get skates? Try out this Nice Skating app instead.  First, choose one of 4 skaters.  Then, help them refine their skating costume.  Last, draw their path on the ice.  Then, as they skate around the path you've drawn, take them through their different skating moves.  Each skater has a unique set of fancy tricks they can do and once you've gone through their whole routine, they hop up onto the awards platform.  Once each of the four skaters has completed their routine, YOU get to choose who gets the bronze, silver, gold and the lollipop award and then... start over again!  There's no right or wrong way to play this game, no score keeping, just some silly action. Watch your child the first time they play it and see if they find the controls intuitive.  If they don't swipe the screen the same way that the floating hand does, their character will just fall down. See if they can figure it out on their own, but if they get super frustrated, point out that they need to swipe the screen in order to do each trick. And yes, I'm fairly certain that one of the backboard ads is for "Bear Farts." You're welcome.
